Moved from Nigeria to England to join the family then moved on to Teesside in 1994 to start in a Public health training program in Middlesbrough.
People are warm and friendly here but there is room for improvement. It is relatively peaceful and less stressful here. Despite the negatives that tends to overshadow the positives.
Advice black youth:’ No matter your background and ethnicity you should develop a can do attitude, think outside the box, exert yourselves and don’t get complacent. Be able to adapt and recognise that a times you may have to work harder to prove yourself’.
Advice for black community: ‘The black community has allowed themselves to consciously or unconsciously be divided, to be used against one another. They need to actually come together as one and not undermine themselves. They need to develop some level of trust, work together and put forward united front’.
